Goutam Mukherjee

Profile

Goutam did Bachelor's in Chemistry honours from the University of Burdwan (India) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, one of the top institutions in India. He did Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry under Prof. B. Jayaram from IIT Delhi in 2014. He spent around a year as a postdoctoral fellow in the research group of Prof. Yakoov (Koby) Levy, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel and 6 months in the laboratory of Prof. Alexander MacKerell Jr., University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA and 4.5 years with Prof. Dr. Rebecca wade, at the Heidelberg University and Heidelberg Institute of Theoretical Studies (HITS), Germany. He has over 12 years of research experiences in the field of Computational Drug Design and Biomolecular modelling. His expertise in the field of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry includes (I) Structure and ligand-based drug design; (ii) multiresolution modelling; (iii) quantum mechanical characterization of small-molecule, (iv) fingerprint/functional groups generation for small molecules and (v) machine learning based tool developments. Goutam likes to play cricket and volleyball. When he is not busy with project works, he likes traveling and watching movies/Netflix series.
